Puppy Jail

Miss Merida came home Friday evening.  The vet tech I dealt with adores the Disney Princess, Merida, so naturally she adores our little corgi girl. She told us that Merida was a joy to have around and she got the VIP treatment with plenty of pillows. I guess it pays to be cute and lovable, huh?

She was still a bit groggy from the anesthesia, so it was easy to keep her quiet.  We set her up in the xpen for the night, along with her puppy blanket and some toys. Gimli didn't understand why she was there and not in the room with him, isn't he lovely? He did enjoy being the sole corgi in the house, while she stayed overnight at the vet's.

They put in internal stitches so there's nothing to tempt her to pull at them. She received an injection of pain medicine on the day of the surgery and on Friday, so she wasn't in pain. In fact, she's had no pain medication to speak of since Friday and she's not shown any signs of distress.

On Saturday morning, you could see she was starting to feel better and tried to stretch, but she stopped part way through. I imagine she felt some discomfort then and wisely stopped.

Giving us the stink eye

Don't look at me, I'm hideous!

Today, she's almost back to normal. Her scar is healing well. There's still some dried blood stuck to it, but that's starting to fall off on it's own.

She wants to run around and the poor dear is itching to go on a walk! We're to keep her quiet for 7 days, so she won't be joining Gimli and I on our walks til at least Friday morning.
