What? Why are you staring at me?
The other day, Gimli lay in the doorway to the office and fell asleep. He was in such a deep sleep that he didn't hear me turn around in my chair, (it was a small miracle I actually made no noise!), and turn to look at him.
After a few seconds, he woke up, saw me staring at him and he proceeded to look around as if a) he'd done something wrong or b) there was a monster behind him about ready to pounce.
I didn't have a camera nearby so you'll have to settle for this video, which is quite close to Gimli's facial expression:

5 things going on in our house - February
5 things going on in our house this month:
1. I finished my 2nd book of the year. I chose to read Stephen King's It. It was not scary as I was reading it, but it got into my head and now I'm imagining things... especially when I'm in the bathroom by myself. If you've ever read the book, then you know why the bathroom can be scary.
My mind is also playing tricks with me and it has me imagining weird things and then wondering if anyone else sees it too.
For my 3rd book, I tried to get into Pride and Prejudice Zombies, but I couldn't. I wanted more zombies and less prim and proper. Oh well, off to find book 3!
2. Ms. Merida has adopted a rather stinky habit that has to do with dog poop. It's revolting and it's times like this I wish she could talk so I could ask her why she chooses to do this. To combat this, we picked up a sonic trainer. You aim it at the dog and press a button, which sends a low frequency sound to the dog. It's supposed to deter the unwanted behavior. We've used it a few times and it does startle her enough that you can call her away. We give her plenty of treats and praise when she does come inside, so we are hopeful.
If it works, we'll use it on Gimli next with his barking.
3. In my weight loss efforts I've lost about an inch since this time last month. I'm slowly starting to fit into things. Last week, I put on a pair of pants, ate a large dinner and didn't feel like I was going to pop a button. PROGRESS! I have a bit more to go though, but it's in the right direction and that's all I care about.
I do have another strange thing. I've been working my arms and my chest - not too much, but much more than before and now I'm finding certain articles of clothing are too tight in the chest and arms. I guess it's a nice problem to have, but I didn't think I'd have to purchase new clothing on account of growth in other areas! I was trying to avoid purchasing new clothes!
4. Mike is slowly getting back to exercising. He's been using his wheelchair inside and that means he's gently been using his leg and that has made a difference. It's starting to heal and he's starting to get some strength back in it. His first goal is to return to exercising to a) get in shape and b) lose weight so he puts less strain on his joints.
5. It looks like I'm going to get a mouth guard to protect my teeth when I sleep. I, "unofficially", have been diagnosed with bruxism, which is grinding of the teeth or clenching of the jaw. I do the latter and I often complain of pain in the jaw. I'm going to go in next month for a teeth/jaw impression and then it will be made for me. Hopefully this will help.

My Pemmie Valentine
Our house is bereft of any hearts or Valentine related items, so in honor of tomorrow, both corgis received a big old kiss from me. Apologies for the blurriness :(
Gimli and his "awwwww, Caaaannnnnnddddyyy" face
Merida and her "I don't know what you're doing, so I'll just stand here and go with it, but the minute you turn away, I'm going to escape!"

Standing guard
I'm pretty sure if I was in trouble that Gimli would come to my rescue. He's never had to, so I could be completely wrong, but I am hopeful!
We have a special bond, him and I. He's my partner in crime, my cuddle bear. When our eyes meet, I see a bit of his soul and his spirit.
In these pictures I was romping in the snow and decided to lie down, in the hopes a corgi would pounce on me. Alas, no pounces, but I did get this picture.

Nobody gets between me and my Candy
Not even you!

Should have named her Elsa
If you've seen the movie Frozen, then you know all about Elsa - the girl that can make snow and ice at will. The cold doesn't bother her and she feels right at home among the snow and ice.
This is Merida's first winter and she's a little snow corgi. Even more so than Gimli.
When I let them into the yard or when I take them to the park, Gimli often wants to come in after a short while. He will romp and roll in the snow, but eventually he has enough and is ready to come in. He is well aware of the extreme chilly temperatures, despite his fluff and his dog jacket!
Merida, on the other hand, would stay outside all day. I took her to the park on the long leash and she fell into a snowbank. It didn't faze her. She jumped out of it like a champ and kept going! When I take her for a walk, she has to go up onto the snow banks and perch like a mountain goat. On one occasion, she pooped on top of a snow bank and I climbed up after her to scoop. I was not impressed.
The corgis have made trenches in the yard and she delights in running through them. This picture was taken a couple weeks ago. The bank is now a bit higher and she still runs through the trenches. She'll even jump through the deep snow to get at Gimli.
The weather forecast predicts more snow tonight and tomorrow. I think Merida will be pleased.

Fabulous hair!
The other day, I posted this on Twitter:
And it was promptly retweeted by Meagan. Meagan and Kaci went on to respond back to each other in the following:
Apparently, Gimli has fabulous hair. Or perhaps Merida, I'm not sure what the kids are all into these days.

Saturday Smiler - Sheepish Grin
MERIDA: What's so funny huh?
For as long as I live, I'll never understand Gimli and his grins. It's as if he knows to smile at the camera.

Flat Corgis - River of Grass
I missed the Flat Corgi post for yesterday, so this is the makeup edition.
Here we are in an airboat in the Everglades. The driver stopped and allowed us to take pictures. I was seated at the edge of the boat and I was convinced an alligator was in the water and was going to spring up and grab me!
